Code of Conduct

The Devil’s Due is a home for mature roleplayers to tell mature stories. As such, we require that every applicant abide by our Code of Conduct.

DD operates a ‘two strikes’ policy. For most infractions against this code are likely to result in a warning, with a second infraction resulting in dismissal. The ‘warning’ can fade over time if the member demonstrates a commitment to change. Dismissal from the cabal(s) immediately will be used in more severe cases (particularly if members are discovered to be under 18). The Devil’s Due leadership will be fair in consideration of any issues arising from this code.

TL;DR For Our Code of Conduct:

Don't be a jerk.

DO:

  • Understand that every action you take reflects on all of us - so do things that make us proud!
  • Adhere to the Funcom rules of conduct (link), and the Secret World’s terms of service (link).
  • Be at least 18.
  • Be kind, forgiving, mature, professional, and adult.
  • Be aware that mature themes are likely to be a part of the Devil’s Due.
  • Respect and be tolerant of other peoples RP, choices, individuality, and characters.
  • Know your limits, and don’t be afraid to assert them.
  • Strive to be original, playful, respectful, open-minded, creative, and unique.
  • Log into the forums and the game at least once a month.
  • Post in the "leave of absence" forum when you'll be gone for a month or more.
  • Ask questions, and speak up if there’s something going on that you are unhappy with.
  • Alert a cabal leader, officer, or veteran if something problematic happens.
  • Use spoiler and NSFW tags appropriately.
  • Get express permission from participants before posting logs of RP encounters.
  • Exercise appropriate caution when giving out personal details.
  • Take anything personal/private to private channels.
  • Exercise good judgment and take responsibility for your own actions.

DO NOT:

  • Harass, bully or threaten other players in any form (as stated in Funcom's rules of conduct link).
  • Use harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive language (as stated in Funcom's rules of conduct link).
  • Espouse racist, anti-religious, anti-ethnic, or other hate-mongering philosophy (as stated in Funcom's rules of conduct link).
  • Select a character name that is offensive, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, sexually explicit, racially, ethnically, or otherwise objectionable, or that references famous persons, historical figures, or fictional characters (as stated in Funcom's Terms of service link).
  • Deliberately interrupt other people’s enjoyment (griefing), pester, whine, or repeatedly post requests or spam.
  • Discuss political, partisan, religious, or social justice issues seriously or at length in public spaces. This is the wrong place to change minds and make converts. Discuss it privately.
  • Play the part of, or seek out, a character younger than 18.
  • Be dramatic or over-sensitive OOC.
  • Swear too much or at other people. (An occasional f-bomb at the Ur-Draug is therapeutically necessary and acceptable).
  • Stalk people. If someone tells you to go away and never talk to them again - then leave them alone.
  • Otherwise bring the cabals and the metaconspiracy into disrepute.
